Bird-Friendly Arkansas

Create useful habitat at home with native plants, water, shelter, and safer windows.

02

Businesses

03

Places of worship

Care for congregational property and engage members in practical conservation.

Why it matters

Bird populations have declined by nearly three billion since 1970.

Habitat loss, window collisions, outdoor cats, pesticides, and light pollution are among the threats that individuals and organizations can address on their own properties.

Native plants

Restore the relationships birds depend on.

Arkansas native plants provide seeds, fruit, nectar, shelter, and the insects required by nesting birds. Replacing part of a lawn with native grasses, wildflowers, shrubs, and trees adds meaningful habitat.

Safer properties

Reduce hazards as habitat improves.

Certification also addresses window collisions, outdoor cats, pesticides, outdoor lighting, clean water, feeders, nesting cover, and other practical property-management choices.
